To Be

To be

Last night as I slept I travelled the cosmos
Marvelling at The Word in all that I saw:
Great Planets with their Moons silently orbiting;
Long, icy Comets occasionally passing;
Our own Milky Way an abundance of mystery;
Never-ending Galaxies stretching majestically;
Luminous bands of Stars shining so brightly;
Stardust: Meteors: Nebulas compacting:
A Universe of colours: Exquisite; beyond imagining:
Creation so glorious happening around me:
Birth and death:  Celestial Universe:
Epiphany: Enlightenment: Mystical moment:
GOD IN ALL MAJESTY WAS ALL I DID SEE.
Overwhelming understanding that even my presence
Was so important amongst this magnificence:
Each particle that exists completes God’s essence.
And after death, Body and Soul continues as part of it.
I AM.
Eternity……..

Poetry: the Journey

The Journey

Onwards, ever onwards, we continue to wander;
Up and over; down and under;
Twists and turns; from side to side.
Our personal journey; each alone without guide;
High roads, low roads taking all in our stride.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

Crossing bridges wide, we reach for the sky:
Secure with surety: With certainty we fly;
Riding high with success and excitement.
Surging onwards, exhilarated, no time for contentment,
The world seems to stand still: We continue the ascent.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

No hurdle insurmountable: Surging supreme,
Wide water, great gorges, raging ravine.
Adrenalin flowing: Life exactly on track.
Upwards and onwards, we’ve now got the knack:
Nothing impossible: The wind at our back.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

One day we realise we’re on the wrong road.
Emotionless, we continue to carry our load;
No exits appear; slowly shuffling along:
Never-ending boredom; mind numbing song.
Without relief or distraction each day is too long.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

Lives go awry without any reasons.
Corridors of darkness; deep nether regions─
Downwards and inwards; we dig a deep hole:
Sliding and tunnelling; out of control:
Long narrowing chambers encompass our soul.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

Strange, friendless world consumes even our essence.
Dark night of the soul: Not even God’s presence.
Twisting and winding; overwhelmed by terror,
Disoriented in the depths; falling further and further.
Voiceless: Powerless: To ourselves we are strangers.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

When a glimmer of light appears in the abyss;
To find familiar pathways, landmarks of peace,
Out of our hell we cautiously climb.
Hope our new journeyman, darkness behind.
New momentum from within now driving our mind.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.

Unique our itinerary, each only one pathway:
Strong or weak, heading onwards each waking day.
Seeking, searching, unravelling life’s mystery;
Over bridges, through tunnels, we continue our journey;
Overcoming hurdles and obstacles, we write our own history.
Mind, body and soul,
Through the labyrinth we journey:
Travelling the highways and by-ways of life.
